MPS which stands for Metabolic Profile Systems is different from other weight loss programs in several ways.  

First, it is not a one size fits all plan.   It is individualized as it is designed for your metabolism.  

Second, there are NO gimmicks.   No pre-packaged meals (those can cost $75-150.00/week), no meal substitutes (costing $300-500.00/month), no expensive “magic pills”.    There is no counting calories, no weighing or measuring your food.

You will be eating real food that you buy at your grocery store.   You will be able to go to a restaurant, order off the menu and stay on your plan.

Have you heard the term   Insulin Resistance or Metabolic Syndrome

Insulin resistance is a medical term originating in the early 1970’s and was first connected to diabetes.   Since then there have been several thousand research studies which have connected it to weight gain, fatigue, all of the above mentioned degenerative diseases and several auto-immune diseases.   So the term has been updated to Metabolic Syndrome; a more inclusive term.   In simple words it means that your body chemistry is out of balance.   When your body is in chemical imbalance and under stress then symptoms start to appear like weight gain, fatigue, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, acid reflux, etc.

What causes this chemical imbalance?  The great American diet!   The physician and his wife who developed  MPS Weight Loss & Wellness recognized after a great deal of research that there are at least five (5) basic metabolisms.    Each metabolism has three (3) or four (4) foods to which the body is very sensitive.   This is not (but can be) an allergy; it is more accurately described as a sensitivity.  The more often these foods are eaten the more out of balance the body chemistry becomes.    And all of these foods are very abundant in the modern American diet. 

These 3 – 4 foods must be avoided for the first four weeks on the program.   This gives your body time to get back into chemical balance.   Then you may add them back into your diet but only on a limited basis in order to maintain your chemical balance.   So you don’t have to give up anything on a permanent basis.  Also very important are the combinations of what you eat - breakfast, lunch and supper.   This is different for each Profile but all Profiles eat a very balanced diet designed to enhance their metabolism.

All of the Menus have balanced combinations of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.   For example, the Profile 5 breakfast includes a protein, a grain and a beverage.   The Profile 2 lunch includes a serving of meat, grain, non-starchy vegetable, salad, dairy and two oils (salad dressing, butter on bread, oil for cooking, etc.).  The Profile 1 supper features a serving of meat, grain, two vegetables, fruit, salad, dairy and oil.  The calorie consumption is from 1200 – 1400 per day.   There is plenty to eat and people do not go hungry.  Often the energy level will rise substantially within the first few weeks.

MPS Weight Loss & Wellness is an education based program and it is a life-style change.   You will learn a lot about nutrition and metabolic syndrome.    Following your Menus and Commandments for the rest of your life will ensure maintaining your desired weight and good health.   No more yo-yo dieting.   However, if the program is abandoned the metabolic syndrome will reappear along with the weight gain and diseases it causes.

MPS stands for Metabolic Profile System.  The first step is to be “Profiled”.   This is how you find out which of the five (5) metabolisms you have,   what are your sensitivity foods and the combinations you should eat at each meal.     This is easy to do by phone and computer.   Profiling includes considerations of your physical characteristics, personality traits, energy pattern and reactions to some foods.    Profiles are performed by a qualified MPS professional.  

Once your Profile (metabolism type) has been established, you will learn your 3 – 4 sensitivity foods. Your Menus (combinations of foods for your meals), and Commandments (dos and don’ts concerning your food intake) will be reviewed, as well as portion sizes, label reading, grocery shopping, etc.  This will require about 2½ hours to complete.  

The program is designed to offer you weekly accountability, monitoring and a great deal of information about nutrition.  You will learn why you are doing what you are doing through online classes that you may do anytime at your convenience during the week.   For example, one of the classes discuss what we drink – coffee, soft drinks, tea, water, etc. – what is good, what is bad.  A couple of classes discuss exercise.   

The equation of losing weight is 80% what you eat + 20% exercise.   

(Now you know why exercising alone has not rewarded your efforts as expected.)  Just like there are combinations of foods that are best for each Profile there are also combinations of exercises that work best for each Profile.   Some of the classes address emotional eating.  Celebration, boredom or frustration are times when people eat too much and/or make poor choices.   It is imperative to learn how to recognize these times in your life.  And know how to conquer them rather than being sabotaged by them.

This will require you to obtain a few current photos of yourself.  We would also like to know your latest glucose and cholesterol numbers which may be obtained from your physician.   You may send these by FAX or e-mail to MPS.    We will set an appointment to meet with you over the phone or by Skype in order to perform the Profile which will include gathering more information such as a medical history and questions which will assist us to decipher your metabolic type.  After your Profile is determined we will review your Menus and Commandments, discuss shopping, portion sizes and label reading.  Altogether this will take a couple of hours to complete.  

If you need a weight loss of twenty or more pounds MPS recommends a four month program.  Women will lose an average of 1-3 pounds a week; men will lose an average of 1-5 pounds per week.  This is a healthy weight loss which will assist you in maintaining your results over the long term. 

Each client will receive a binder full of information.   This binder will include your Menus and Commandments, important information on foods, food journals, worksheets for the classes and about 60 recipes.   You may communicate to us through      e-mail.  You will be asked to journal your eating throughout the program.  Each week you will send your food journal to us by   e-mail or FAX and come to the  MPS Weight Loss & Wellness website to do your class. You will learn a great deal about nutrition and why you are doing what you are doing.  Your journal will be reviewed and comments and/or suggestions e-mailed back to you. 

You will have your individualized program to follow, have weekly accountability, learn a lot about health and wellness.   Your  questions will be answered in a timely manner.   This is a life style change for life time results.  You work the program and it will work for you.  The first four month program which includes the Profile is only $549.

You may have just the Profile performed.  This is a one time, two plus hour session to determine your profile and receive instructions on the Menus and Commandments, grocery store shopping, portion sizes, label reading, etc.  You will receive a small binder with the information along with over 60 recipes.  This is recommended ONLY for those who need less than a twenty pound weight loss OR for those who do not need weight loss but are wanting to get off prescription medications for diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, acid reflux, etc. OR for those who don't need weight loss but want to do all they can to maintain good health throughout their lifetime.  It is very difficult for a body that is chemically in balance to develop degenerative diseases.  The Profile alone is $199.
